KILGANNON SERIES: KILGANNON and WILD ROSE OF KILGANNON

My first book(s).  I knew nothing about the realities of the publishing business when I started seriously writing.  I had grown up on huge epic stories that were 800 pages or more long, and loved entering a world full of interesting people and adventures - so when I wrote KILGANNON, I thought on that scale.  Despite much editing, it was still far too long to be published in one volume, and so KILGANNON was divided into two books.  The good news was that my first book would be published.  The bad news was that Volume I would end on a cliff hanger.  I'm so sorry!

The story is set in England and Scotland, from 1712 to 1716, and is told in a first person point of view.  It opens with Mary in London. Queen Anne is on the throne.  She is aging and ill, and despite bearing seventeen children, has no heir.  England is at war on the Continent, and the Act of Union with Scotland, enacted five years earlier, was meant to ensure peace, but it has had the opposite effect. And Mary Lowell is looking for a husband.  Well actually her Aunt Louisa is the one looking for a husband for Mary, and has already made her choice.  Mary's future seems determined until one fateful night when Alexander MacGannon, the Earl of Kilgannon, arrives at Louisa's home, and everything changes.

When Queen Anne dies, Scotland's clans rise in rebellion against the choice of George of Hanover as her successor.  Alex must choose whether he will follow the clans to war – and Mary must choose between her country and the man she loves.

KILGANNON and THE WILD ROSE OF KILGANNON are currently published in English, German, and Spanish.
